Shakyra Dowling knows the film and television industry inside out. Having trained and worked as an actor, she spent several years in production before establishing herself as a casting director in 2009. A fierce champion of new and emerging talent, SDC has carved out a niche specialising in independent British feature films and European co-productions alongside television and commercials – many of which have been internationally recognised and gone on to be nominated for multiple awards including BAFTAs and BIFAs, and at festivals from Sundance to TIFF. Shakyra is a passionate advocate for diversity in all aspects of casting and a vocal supporter of women’s achievements in filmmaking. She is always on the lookout for new talent and excited to work on fresh creative ideas with both promising new filmmakers and established directors. Some notable projects Shakyra has worked on include: WOLF (starring Lily-Rose Depp, George MacKay), LOVE SARAH and THE WAR BELOW What will this workshop involve? This is an in person, group workshop where actors will be given a selection of sides to choose from to prepare for a mock audition which will be followed by direct feedback and guidance by Shakyra in a safe, supportive space. All performances will be filmed on top quality equipment with a digital copy of your performance sent following the workshop. Where is it taking place? Anything less than 24 hours noice is non-refundable due to scheduling. Cancellation policy for workshops/group course: Unless stated otherwise ALL workshops require 5 days (120 hours) notice for any refunds/credit. Anything less than 5 days (120 hours) notice is non-refundable due to the nature of the course/workshop. *Please note* A £5 admin reversal fee will be charged for all refunds.
